Incentivizing an upgrade in any software interface is a challenge by nature. You need the right touch – noninvasive, yet optionally present and friendly. Through lots of beta-testing, thanks to great customer relationships, we were able to guide interested users through a process to try, and eventually purchase, Rave Collaborate, a key upgrade.

The Rave Collaborate upgrade was so complimentary to our core alerting product (and its huge install base), that illustrating the value of automating alerts in the context of common event types became clear to users with just a little educational guidance and a professional video showing client experts showcasing the added value.

Fig 2 and Video. Creating an informative and captivating demo to illustrate how users could incorporate upgraded features into their daily use cases and operations was a key part of incentivizing the trial.

Fig 3. Making it easy for the user to easily convert on an upgrade is critical. This instance shows how users with purchasing permissions can access purchasing functions right in the application, during their decision to upgrade.
